OUR UNDER-VINE TOOLS

FOR SOIL CULTIVATION

PARALLELOGRAM SUPPORTS

What is the versatile parallelogram support?

It’s at the heart of the “soil cultivation” range from SOUSLIKOFF. On its own, it can accommodate 4 complementary intercep tools: the VITALEX mechanical disc (weeding and soil mixing), the DECALEX mechanical intra-row plough (décavaillonnage / clearing soil from under the vines), the COUPALEX hydraulic mower (mowing and weeding), and the BINALEX mechanical hoeing blade (flat tillage).

What are the features of the parallelogram support?

It’s 100% mechanical with a spring-return system, ensuring smooth retraction and re-engagement of the tools. You can use it in either an inter-row or straddle-mounted (over-the-row) configuration.

How do you switch from one tool to another?

With just a few turns of a 22 mm wrench and 2 screw nuts, you can switch from one tool to another.

What is the advantage of the parallelogram support?

It’s the first investment that then lets you build up to a complete soil-cultivation solution. You buy the support first, and the arms afterwards.

A couple of notes on terminology, since this is customer-facing:

Décavaillonnage has no clean one-word English equivalent — I kept the French term with a gloss (“clearing soil from under the vines”), which is how most bilingual viticulture equipment sites handle it. If you’d rather it read fully English, “intra-row de-ridging” works too.

For enjambeur I used “straddle-mounted (over-the-row)” — the term “straddle tractor” is standard in English-language wine-equipment catalogues, so English-speaking growers will recognise it.

VITALEX INTER-VINE DISC

  • High operating speed ranging from 6 to 8 km/h.
  • Completely eliminates weeds surrounding the base.
  • Cuts and loosens the soil (clods) with the curved toothed disc.
  • Controlled ground displacement.
  • Distance and attack angle adjustments via three toothed nuts.
  • Foot protection for all ages.
  • Assembly is agile and simple thanks to the parallelogram mechanical support, allowing operation without a probe.
  • Pin to reduce volume and facilitate transport.

When do you use the VITALEX?

All year round. In spring, it opens up the soil. In summer, it cleans it. In autumn, it does light ridging.

How does it work in practice?

It mounts onto the versatile parallelogram support. A few adjustments and you’re ready to go.

What is the VITALEX’s work rate?

The VITALEX disc’s working speed is between 6 and 8 km/h.

Does the disc work with or without a feeler?

Without a feeler. It retracts mechanically thanks to the spring on the parallelogram support.

Are young and old vine stocks kept safe?

Yes — that’s the principle of mechanical spring retraction: the disc moves aside on contact with the vine stock.

What types of soil does the VITALEX work on?

On all soil types: dry, hard, wet, never mechanically worked, and so on.

How is it mounted?

Use the SOUSLI’GUIDE app, downloadable to your phone: it guides you through every step (mounting, adjustment, maintenance) of your SOUSLIKOFF tools.

Why not just use the DECALEX?

The two tools are complementary. The DECALEX is used in early spring to expose the intra-row strip (cavaillon). The VITALEX then takes over for complete weeding and hoeing.

DECALEX inter-vine cultivator

  • Light tillage implement that optimises surface cultivation (3 to 5 cm).
  • Suitable for all types of terrain.
  • Forward speed of up to 4 km/h.
  • Continuous safety measures in spring to safeguard vine trunks (exclusive to SOUSLIKOFF).
  • Specific actions promoting renewed cultivation.
  • Adjustable swan neck height.
  • Vine cleaning tool, designed for cultivation close to the trunks.
  • Mechanical retraction via a parallelogram mechanism.
  • Pin to reduce volume and optimise transportability.

What is the DECALEX?

A mechanical intra-row plough (décavaillonneuse) from SOUSLIKOFF. It exposes the intra-row strip (cavaillon) at the start of spring.

How long has the DECALEX been around?

It’s the pioneer of the SOUSLIKOFF range — it’s been around since 1969. Often copied, never equalled.

Has it evolved since it was first created?

Yes, there are several versions of the DECALEX.

How is it mounted?

Via the SOUSLI’GUIDE app: it guides you through every step (mounting, adjustment, maintenance) of your SOUSLIKOFF tools.
